The Scheduling Team is a fundamental component of Quadrant Self Service self scheduling functionality. Each scheduling team has picking periods during which members of the team have priority for self scheduling. During a team's picking period, when members log in to Quadrant Self Service, their unit schedule opens in edit mode and a team member can begin to select shifts.
Employees are assigned to a unit and a picking team, as determined by their position, when they are hired. A picking team is a mix of employees working in different positions within a unit, helping to ensure that the competition for self scheduled shifts is balanced and fair within the unit.
The picking order is divided among the teams, and rotates each schedule period to ensure fairness in the picking of shifts. For example, Team 1 picks first, Team 2 picks second, and Team 3 picks third. Each team has a window of access defined on the Team Cycle Generation dialog before being “locked out” of shift picking. During the following picking cycle, Team 2 picks first and so on. Although only the picking team with current access can select shifts, members of other teams can view their schedules at any time.
Self Scheduling is intended to be used by employees to select shifts that fall outside of their normally scheduled hours. For example, an organization may require staff to select a certain number of weekend or evening shifts during each schedule period. These are the shifts that can be selected through self scheduling. When an employee selects a shift on the web, they are automatically removed from their regularly scheduled shift for that day.
